A male colleague with whom the lady gets along very well suddenly confessed his feelings for her and though she likes him too, there is the age factor problem.
Although many have commented that the lady looks very much younger than her age, the fact is that the lady is more than 10 years older than the guy.....
So the lady is wondering...
Can it really work? ... A much older women with a younger guy? And it is not about being just a few years apart ... What if the difference is more than 10 years??
Would the guy be able to take the constant pressure from society?
Imagine when the guy is 40+, the lady would be 50+ ... and further down, when the guy is 50+, the lady would be 60+ !
Can the guy's family accept the lady? Worse still, the lady is as old as the guy's eldest sister !

My last boyfriend was 25 years old and I was 46. He thought I was also 25 when we first met. Well, he actually wanted to marry me! Perhaps I should have said yes but eventually I think he would show interest in younger women of his age, which he has shown. So I left. It did seem to hurt him but he was able to recover from the trauma quicker than me. :-)

I have no issue with the older woman/younger guy relationship. In fact, that is what I prefer. Most think I am 29 even though I am 39. Many guys I talk to don't have a problem. I usually do not date older than myself.

mmmm its a bit confusing matter i guess but i think it depends on two of the people if they really want to commit themselves to each other and talk though everything id say why not, we can only guess but peoples personality is a big factor and i would say things are very different in marriage life ...

Salaams I have lived that life, it is good for a while then at some point they begin to act their age. I'm sure some women do the same. But if it feels right maybe it works when you find the right person.There is someone for everyone.

I see no problem in this age difference men age 30 +older marry 18 year old girls so why can t a older woman marry younger man? also most seem to forget it seems that our prophet's first wife was so much older . I am 35 I do not mind younger man than me as long as he is in same mind frame as me and I think to many stress age ,now i would not go marry a 18 year old mind you bit ten years no bad in differences

im in a same situation,many friends ask me 2 reconsidr it also, i think there is a lot of truth in tis ,,by the tym im 50 she will be 60 and guess wat we havent started a family yet coz we just meet recently ,,,,

I say the same thing - that our prophet's first wife was so much older - - but then again -- he was Our Prophet (pbuh) and he possessed such an ideal character which alas! if most men were like him, the ladies today would be dispensed with much heartaches !
I also agree that age is not a testimony of maturity as some much older persons can be ridiculously childish. However the lady cannot help but fear that over time, the younger guy may be pressured by society and the reality of having a wife who is physically much older than himself.
There's also the common situation that the sparks and excitement that most guys feel at the on start of a relationship, often loses their potency after the 'chase' is over ...

Salaams, (i'm new..)I found the topic interesting. Ive also been told i look young for my age, and worse, i also get suggestions and proposals from much younger men. I think it is a very personal decision and not 'one size fits all'. I think that when it comes to marriage, it is okay to allow for personal prejudices (ageist, even racist?) as it is more important to be honest to ourself than it is to be politically correct. I AM an ageist, and dont think i will ever be able to face the pressures of being 'the older woman'. Most men lack maturity as it is......
